Finally Austria has it’s band and song for the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest 2015 which takes places in Vienna (Austria): The Makemakes – I Am Yours.
We like the song, but as soon as we’ve heard it, we knew that this song sounds (too) similar to one or more other songs.
We didn’t know it immediately, but after a few days we got it: Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Colpdplay’s “The Scientist” sound pretty similar.
So in these times, where Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams are convicted of plagiarism for their “Blurred Lines” (which isn’t a rip-off at all in my opinion of “Marvin Gaye – Got To Give It Up”), what about this?
I really hope, The Makemakes don’t get disqualified (in their own country). Officially it’s necessary to NOT rip or cover a song for being able to be part of the ESC as an artist.
We just can hope, the esc comitee doesn’t have the same association.
Comparison of “The Makemakes – I Am Yours”
What are we talking about? Hear for yourself: “The Makemakes – I Am Yours” vs. “Katy Perry – Roar” vs. “Coldplay – The Scientist”:
There are even more 1 or 2 songs we recognized their song sounds similar to, but we don’t remember their titles at the moment. As soon as we remember them, we’ll post it here or on our YOUTUBE CHANNEL.
In the meanwhile let’s hope they don’t get sued, because the song is a real nice and catchy tune.
What do you think?
